I was awakened at my hotel in Beirut at 2:30AM: by people yelling and giggling and acting drunk--yes, people in the Middle East also get drunk. I could not go back to sleep. I told the guy who brought me breakfast about the problem. He said: yes, we know. They are Gulf Arabs. I immediately protested sensing the typical Lebanese prejudice against all Arabs from the Gulf. I said: no, I heard the female voices and they were distinctively Lebanese. He smiled at me and said: oh, yes. The women are always Lebanese.
