Thus Pontificated Havel
"He recently argued that nostalgia for the old regime reflected the condition of a people who had been imprisoned for so long that they did not know what to do with their newfound freedom." Spare me your stupid theory. You just can't accept that people have been made to be nostalgic for the communist era because of the lousy regimes that you have led and supported. Havel reminds me of Kanan Makiya: people who think they are deep but no one else agree with their assessment of themselves. Oh, with one difference: Makiya has no standing among his people and no one knows who he is. Remember when Makiya wrote about his return to Baghdad in the New Republic (the well-known mouthpiece of fanatical Zionism, or I should say Zionist fanaticism) with the US army and how he felt that he is known by the Iraqis. That was a piece of humor that was circulated among many for amusement. Do you know that Paul Wolfowitz told people that the Iraqi people are going to elect Makiya as their president. So funny.
