The real Rafiq Hariri
We have somebody new writing on Lebanon in the New York Times: "Mr. Hariri had been a leading opponent of Syria’s political control over his country." Let me explain a few things to Marlise. Rafiq Hariri was installed in 1992 by Syrian intelligence service, and he bribed his way to that prime ministership. Hariri lasted for 10 years as a tool of Syrian intelligence, and he never ONCE criticized the Syrian government or its policies EVER in his lifetime. After his death, Rafiq Hariri--truth be told (or as they say in Egypt الحق يتقال")--became a courageous critic of the Syrian government AFTER HIS DEATH. After his death, Rafiq Hariri becamse a champion of the opposition to Syria and he continues to issue courageous press releases from his grave.
