Jeffrey Goldberg, who had served in the Israeli occupation army, introduces his credential on matters Islamic: "One day in Damascus not long ago, I visited the understocked gift shop of the Sheraton Hotel, looking for something to read." And if you are looking for something to read, make sure to avoid the New Yorker when it carries your silly articles on the Middle East. Goldberg offered the theory that Hasan Nasrallah is hiding in Peru. And why do people who notice grotesque anti-Semitic books in the Middle East don't notice grotesque anti-Muslim books in Israel and the West. Hell? In the latter category they are promoted in the New York Times. I find it ironic that in the very same book section, the book by Harris is lauded and promoted. Are people losing their sense of irony? I have for years nominated Goldberg for the worst reporter on the Middle East award. He earned the distinction, article by article.
