Pro-Arab think-tanks in Washington, DC: Thus spoke Nicholas Blanford. I watched Nicholas Blanford on Hariri TV: where else. His propagandistic account of Rafiq Hariri is--my sources in Lebanon tell me--distributed free of charge by the Hariri apparatus (which featured it prominently in Hariri rags, Al-Mustaqbal and Ash-Shira`--frontpage) which has commissioned its translation into Arabic. So he was asked about think-tanks in Washington, DC. He explained that there are pro-Israeli think-tanks just as there are pro-Arab think-tanks. Yet, I was waiting for Mr. Blanford--who is remembered for praising the "telegenic" looks of March 14 demonstrations which endeared them to the heart of the White Man--to give us one example of a pro-Arab think-tank in Washington, DC. I waited and waited because the picture seemed too "fair and balanced" in Washington, DC although Blanford added there there are more pro-Israeli think-tanks than there are pro-Arab think-tanks. But I still waited for an example because I lived in DC for years, and never heard of a pro-Arab think-tank in Washington, DC, with the exception of the famous Saban Center which is rabidly pro-Arab as is well-known. But Blanford did not disappoint: he gave examples. He actually named some pro-Arab think-tanks: Lebanese Taverna, Neyla's, and Bachus. (I strongly recommend the Baba Ghannuj at the Neyla's think-tank by the way). Oh, he also said that anti-Palestinian sentiment in Lebanon is quite "understandable."
