From WSJ: ""A lot of people are opposed to Siniora, and might try to bring him down but still want to present themselves as friends with the U.S," said a senior Bush administration official working on the Middle East. "We want to convey to them that there's a price to pay" for their actions." How dumb is that statement by a US expert on the Middle East (read Elliott Abrams) in the Bush administration? (But this gives you an idea of the quality of expertise). This expert thinks that As`ad Hardan or Wi'am Wahhab want to "present themselves as friends with the US"? Do these people read the papers? If anything, the persons in question present themselves as foes of the US. (thanks G.)
