Did you see the Congressional hearing today (took place on Wednesday) on "US Aid to the Palestinians" organized by the International Relations' subcommittee on the Middle East? It was quite a show. At one point, a member of Congress from Indiana wanted to know, basically, why the Presidential Guards did not do a better job of killing Hamas supporters. At another point, a member of congress wanted to know that whatever military assistance that the Dahlan forces get that they will use it against other Palestinians and not against "our cherished ally," as Rep. Mike Pence put it. Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East assured him that it will be fine, and that Israeli government has come to "rely on the presidential guards." This is the show that Aljazeera should be airing in full for all the Arab world to see, instead of the long tedious speeches of Mr. Bush that they insist on carrying live (or the boring speeches of Ayman Adh-Dhawahiri).
