A Taliban Commander Blows his Nose. Did you see the interview with the military commander of Taliban, Commander Dadullah, on AlJazeera today? It was rather bizarre. For a military commander, he seemed to not keep any secrets to himself. For example, he was asked whether the movement has 10,000 fighters. He said: no, the figure is more like 6,000 fighters, but that more may join the movement. He even specified the cites that will be targeted by Taliban in their spring offensive. I felt that if the Pakistan correspondent of Aljazeera (who is a fan of Bin Laden and Al-Qa`idah) asked him about the location of Mullah Omar, he would have blurted it out. Mr. Dadullah also said that he is not opposed to Americans per se but that the Taliban are opposed to anybody who tries to prevent them from fighting the Americans. Now that confused me because if you are not opposed to Americans, but to those who prevent you from fighting Americans, it implies that you are opposed to Americans. Mr. Dadullah also said that the US government has sent messages and letters to Taliban to negotiate with them. And I don't want to ruin your meals, but the Taliban commander wiped his nose (and blew his nose) ON CAMERA using his coat. After cleaning his nose WITH HIS COAT, he continued to talk as if nobody noticed. I NOTICED, did you? And why do Taliban figures always seem to appear as characters from two (or four) centuries ago? And I can't see a Taliban with an I-Pod. Am I being prejudiced against Taliban? Do I suffer from Talibanophoebia?
