I came across this line of poetry by Bashshar bin Burd (d. 783):
فقلت له: إن العراق مقامه وخيم, إذا هبت عليك جنائبه
So I said to him that staying in Iraq is dire, if you were hit by its jana'ib*
(*Strong winds that hit from the south).
