The abuse of Lebanese citizens by Lebanese deputies has grown to the degree that an
organization has been formed to protest the beating of citizens by Lebanese members of parliament or by their bodyguards. When I was in college back in 1981, I was driving my car home in Beirut. There came a long limo for then deputy Albert Mansur. His driver got out of the car and asked me to move my car to make him pass: I said that I have the right of way. He simply got his AK-47 out, and shot in my direction. Fortunately, he missed me, and here I am to tell the story.
