Orlando Patterson is a Harvard sociologist; he is the White Man's favorite sociologist. Why not? I mean, he is the one who came up with the theory that slavery has been good for black people because it led them to embrace freedom. Here he says: "But such legitimizing rhetoric should not blind us to the fact that freedom is neither instinctive nor universally desired, and that most of the world’s peoples have found so little need to express it that their indigenous languages did not even have a word for it before Western contact." Of course, he got this from the many recycled articles by Bernard Lewis (especially his The Political Language of Islam). What does it mean? So people did not have sex in the West prior to the introduction of the word sex? How smart.
