Dog and Pony Show from Lebanon: in Washington, DC. Jamil Muruwwah and Misbah Al-Ahdab at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. I know Jamil Muruwwah some but don't know Misbah Al-Ahdab. Al-Ahdab is a Lebanese deputy from Tripoli who has prostrated himself before every Syrian mukhabarat officer who ever stepped foot in Lebanon. He used to speak the Syrian Ba`thist language better than anybody. He has been (according to a Hariri deputy who told me this) on Hariri payroll since the mid-1990s. He is very ambitious and once dreamt of becoming a prime minister. He is fluent in French, Arabic, English, and Italian. But earlier this year, he got in trouble. He was suffering from oblivion and irrelevance, so he reportedly arranged for one of his bodyguards to shoot at his house, to make himself a victim of Syrian "terrorism." It became clear the next day that the attack was staged; his bodyguard was arrested and then was found dead in his cell, hanging from a ceiling that a person can't reach without a ladder. It was declared a "suicide." There were some protests from some lawyers, but the Hariri minister of ping (most likely) covered up the case. You have to watch the event (by clicking under the picture). See how they talk. Those two (and especially you Jamil) never EVER talk like this in Arabic on Lebanese TV. I have no respect for people who speak two different things depending on the audience. Misbah Al-Ahdab, for example, never called for disarming Hizbullah in Arabic, but found the courage at the Washington Institute. Newly found courage for the man. Notice how he called on Israel to not praise the Lebanese government because that would be embarrassing for the government in Lebanon. Both thought that they are being smart. Notice that Mort Zuckerman, the Likudnik fanatic, called Jamil Muruwwah "Jimmy." And notice that Muruwwah talks about his friendship with Uri Lubrani. What self-respecting person would want to establish a friendship with the person in charge of the occupation of his country? How demeaning is that? Would a Frenchperson brags about a friendship with a Nazi occupier of France? Khalid Saghiyyah picked up the story here. And now, there is a story about it on AlManar TV's website.
