Watching all this hue and cry over Iranian enrichment of uranium, I can't but note the tremendous hypocrisy that is only being missed by the...US media, as usual. In fact, the pursuit of nuclear weapons by Middle East governments (outside of Israel) is rational and certainly in the interest of the countries (not only the regimes) in question. At least, those oppressive governments in the region will not be able to use them for purposes of internal oppression. And that pleases me. Of course, I am fundamentally offended by the foundations of the US/Western argument that believe that WMDs can only be trusted by people of certain races, religions, and ethnicity. But then again: the US position is one of principle. The US government is the only government that would never even hurt a flie, unless the US is engaged in spreading democracy and freedom in the world.
