I read that the annoying daughter of the deposed Iraqi tyrant, Saddam, is threatening to sue all media who "distort" news about the family and about Saddam. It just angers me to read any news about that family, especially when they talk about "the law"--something that was embedded in Saddam's head and sword when he ruled. On Saddam: forgot to report this. While going to the GYM every morning in Beirut, I passed by this street in Hamra, where there was a store which specialized in Saddam's paraphenalia (an American colleague who was in Beirut at the time also noticed it, she told me). It had Saddam's currency, watches, badges, pictures, buttons, etc. The place was almost always closed. But when I once saw the owner, I asked him about the store, and about this "specialty." I asked whether those who purchase Saddam's paraphenalia are from Arab countries. He said: no, some are from Lebanon and some are from Arab countries. At that point, I felt a strong urge to buy me a...potato.
