Make no mistake about it. No Arab regime (including the corrupt Palestinian authority) is worth defending. Not one. I have always said in Arabic media that I would never EVER say a word of praise for any Arab government. I would be ashamed to face the political prisoners one day, if I were to praise Arab governments. They all deserve condemnation, and ideally, ouster. I say this as I have received a flyer from Cairo, Egypt detailing the police state measures undertaken by the lousy Egyptian government to prevent celebrations of May 1st Day. Imagine. Last month, in one demonstration, there were hundreds of demonstrators facing some 50,000 Egyptian security forces. That is how police states operate. Security forces stormed the Tahrir Square and forcibly dispersed the organizers. Many were beaten by the police (like Khalid `Ali, `Afaf Mar`i, Ahmad Fawzi and Muhammad `Abdur-Rahman). Several cafes were closed down too. A leader of the leftist Tajammu` Party was arrested. In other news, Egypt is the second recepient of economic and military aid from the US (Israel is first).
