There is a new letter today signed by Abu Mus`ab Az-Zarqawi making its way on the internet. I just received the full text (in Arabic) from a source in Beirut. It is not written by the same person who wrote that document that the US government released as "the Abu Mus`ab Az-Zarqawi letter" a few months ago. I also doubt that this one is written by Abu Mus`ab, as the latter is no more than a street thug, with his own gang. This letter makes a reference to an op-ed piece in New York Times and to an article in the French publication Le Canard Enchane while it is signed by Zarqawi (ostensibly) in Iraq. It contains the most anti-Shi`ite diatribe I have probably ever read. It states that "Shi`ism is a religion that does not agree with Islam." The letter is written by somebody who is in Iraq, and who knows the scene there very intimately, naming hotels, streets, patterns, etc, and identifying where Amerian and Israeli intelligence (ostensibly) agents stay. It also seems to take responsibility for the bombing of Shi`ite mosques, including the killing of Muhammad Baqir Al-Hakim. Yet, there are those who talk about a Zarqawi-As-Sadr connection.
